Hello darkness, my old friend

Updated: Apr 16, 2023

It has been a while since my last blog.

Dealing with a difficult period of darkness and despair had the effect of my creative juices drying up to the extent that every time I wanted to post something, the words just wouldn’t flow.

And that got me thinking about how we are conditioned to associate dark periods with fear.

When everything is going well in our lives, it is pretty simple to tap into our creative genius and live our life from a place of joy and happiness, enjoying what we are doing. However, the real test is when things are not going as well as expected – when we are surrounded by darkness, it is challenging to motivate ourselves to even get out of bed and face the big, bad world out there.

However, it dawned on me that dark periods are needed for us to truly appreciate the light we have within. It is during the dark times, that we dig deep to find inner strength and courage to slowly move towards the light one little step at a time. Sure – it can be slow and painful; but if you are aware that darkness is not something to be fearful of; in fact, on the contrary – it is something we should actually get excited about because it teaches us to believe in ourselves and gather our in-built resources to deal with whatever life throws at us; coming out on the other side into the light stronger, braver and wiser than before.

Awareness is the key; and Pellowah healing is an amazing way to enhance this awareness by facilitating a radical shift in consciousness allowing us to truly embrace darkness like a long-lost friend whilst leaning into the power of duality (light & dark).
